Vegware helping Scotland go Greener Together

News item posted on Wednesday, May, 22nd filed under all news, events, food waste and recycling

Although we operate all around the world, our global HQ is in Edinburgh and we are a Scottish company. There’s a fantastic campaign at the moment called Greener Together – it’s bringing together all the best ideas for how everyone in Scotland can make simple changes to make their homes, offices and schools a little bit greener every day.

Our pet topic of course is food waste – how to reduce and recycle it, together with used Vegware. Read their tips about wasting less food and eating in season too.

Through www.foodwastenetwork.org.uk are offering our own support to Scottish businesses to help them comply with the new waste Regs – here’s a Greener Scotland blog entry we wrote about what Scottish businesses need to do, and how we have helped one Edinburgh microbrewery reduce its general waste by 90% AND save money.

Vegware founder gives entrepreneur talk at Edinburgh Business School

News item posted on Friday, March, 1st filed under all news, events, media

Last night I (Kat) attended Joe Frankel’s entrepreneur’s talk at The University of Edinburgh Business School to listen to Joe’s unique story about how he turned a compostable spoon into a fast-growing eco packaging firm.

As part of the ‘Inspiring Entrepreneurs’ series, The Edinburgh E-Club invited the former Edinburgh student to share his entrepreneurial journey, and to give advice, and inspire future entrepreneurs about developing an idea into a fast growing business venture.

I have been at Vegware on my marketing placement for just over a month, so this blog is an amalgamation from both an employee, and a student’s perspective. I am currently studying Marketing Management at Edinburgh Napier University and as part of my degree I must undergo an internship to develop professional skills, and most importantly; put academic theory into business practice. And listening to Joe’s inspirational story certainly gave me a useful insight.

We LOVE Climate Week!

News item posted on Friday, March, 9th filed under all news, awards, events

2012 climate week sliderThere’s lots of reasons. Firstly, we have a big soft spot for anyone who gives us an award. Vegware won Best New Product in last year’s Climate Week Awards. That meant we were invited to Parliament to meet the members of the Environmental Audit Committee including Zach Goldsmith who seemed particularly impressed with everything we are doing. But the main reason we love Climate Week is that it makes the whole of the UK focus on the environment.
