And the winner is…us! Vegware was named Best New Product in the Climate Week Awards. On Monday, Teresa and Lucy attended the Climate Week launch event and awards ceremony at sumptuous Lancaster House, London. An all-star judging panel including Lord Nicholas Stern, Mary Robinson and Ian McEwan decided Vegware’s completely compostable packaging was the most inspiring and innovative entry with the greatest impact when it comes to tackling climate change. After all, in 2010 we helped our clients save over 110 tonnes of carbon, and are aiming to save over 250 tonnes in 2011.

In the afternoon, we and other category winners were whisked off to Parliament to meet MPs of the Environmental Audit Committee, and discuss how low-carbon ideas like ours could have even wider impact across the UK. Zac Goldsmith, impressed with our compostable coffee cup and lid, suggested them to the Procurement Manager of a huge coffee chain, who was also present!

All in all, it was a pretty marvellous day for Vegware. Many thanks to all our clients!
