Close the Loop Scotland

Close the Loop is Vegware’s own waste collection service in Central Belt Scotland. We collect used Vegware packaging from our clients, for commercial composting in under 12 weeks. We can provide bin signage and expert help to get you started.

We work with collectors around the UK. Our Vegware approved routes have been established in partnership with the waste collector and composting facility. Our due diligence programme includes investing in large-scale trials, compostability certification, education and engagement. This ensures our products are collected and processed with minimised contamination that results in high-quality compost.

Dedicated collections

For larger sites, bin collections might not be the most viable option and instead they can have a dedicated collection. The site would have a skip or compactor onsite for collecting used Vegware and when full it would be taken directly to a composting facility. This is also a good solution for large on-off events like festivals, or stadiums.

Vegware has teamed up with UK waste company First Mile who offer a Return and Recycle pack. A courier service collects all used Vegware catering disposables to be composted with food waste. The high-grade compost produced is used on local farmer's fields.

Cup collections

We have a cup recycling solution with Co-Cre8 for both composting and recycling. If you are interested in this then our Environmental team can help you set this up. Our cups are also accepted with other collectors such as First Mile as well.

Home composting
We currently have 63 Vegware products that are certified home compostable with OK Compost Home, and Din Certco Home Compost.
Home composting conditions and the householder's skills vary, so we don't make any claims here, but there have been successful trials using hot compost bins.
